To begin with, a determination has to be made as to whether your laptop or desktop computer is suitable for Windows 7. If you already have Windows Vista running on your PC then most likely your computer will run Windows 7. However, if you have an older PC with an operating system like Windows XP your computer may not be suitable for Windows 7. I will be happy to discuss these issues with you on the telephone at no cost to you. If after this consultation we determine that an upgrade is feasible then I will be happy to perform it for you at a cost less than what you would pay for the Windows 7 software at a store. There are two different types of installs. The first is what's called an "in-place upgrade". This type of upgrade maintains all of you personal data, installed programs and settings. This is only possible if your computer is currently running Windows Vista. The second type of install is called a "fresh install". This means all your data has to be backed up first to an external storage device and transferred back after installing Windows 7. All programs then have to then be re-installed from their original sources. This is the only type of install possible if your computer is currently running Windows XP or older operating system. This type of install is also an option with Windows Vista. My fee for doing either an "in-place upgrade" or "fresh" install of Windows 7 is $100. There is a $25 extra fee for doing a data back-up and data restoration associated with a fresh install. This work has to be done at my location so you would have to bring your computer to me. |
